I spent my childhood in a village .The charming natural
beauty of my village ,the traditions,
customs of village,the peacefully living environment become me nostalgic .Therefore
,I try to write about my village life believe .
Gamusa is the very respective thing in assam, many song, poem
,and many story written on gamusa. In
our village every women making gamusa in tat-hal (waving).Gamusa is short cloth,
design flowers in one side of the gamusa and other side fill with “ansu”.
Generally, the gamusa is a white cloth with red boarder. Every assamese people
respect it and it is our identity for making gamusa in present time(before freedom,
and many years of freedom the cloth making procedure of assamese people differ
from present time) hipini” (the cloth
maker)buy huta (string)from market, after it if the string is raw (kesa huta
like 40 r huta,80huta)they boil the string ,they also boil rice,the boiling
rice police on the string and after it they perfectly rearrange it.for rearrange
they use two different kind of instrument...” letai “ and “sereki”. After doing
it they kept the “nesa “(bundle of the string)in the sun to perfectly dry. when
the string dry the cloth maker again rearrange the cloth on ugha.now the time
come the long and every importance part of cloth making procedure, they first
make the measurement and after it they open the string from the” ugha”.

women make Gamusa from the soliso(40huta)string or akshee(80) it call tiyonee
Gmusa,the village people uses it like towel and hancky, when they go to paddy
field for plugging, harvesting they bring this kind of gamusa.Another use of
this type of gamusa when a girl got puberty than some kind of customs are done
by village women in this purpose for making konai (a kind of doll ,making by
cloth)this kind of custom is very important for villagers.when someone like
father ,mother etc died in the family than the son who grave the death person
he use this kind of tiyonee gamusa,because another cloth which is making by
factory or any other machine is not allowed for a month.

Fullam Gamusa
Fullam gamusa is
specially making from pokuwa huta,podmini,pat huta muga huta etc.These kind of string
is different from 40,80string ,beacuse these is not police by votor mar(rice
police)Directly Do the procedures which are necessary for a tat(cloth
making).The rural women preparing some kind of fullam gamusa for akhan(a kind
of thing very respect fully kept in the place where the assamese people praying
to God for their peaceful life ,hermony and posperty.this place is known as
namghar,akhan kept in namghar),when they prepare the gamuse for akhan they kept
fasting ,and pray to God accept it.
Anothet kind of gamusa having flowers one boundary side use
by the old people

This kind of Gmusa specially prepare by the young girl to
give their beloved as a gift of love.The girl makes the designable flowers as
they can,
Dora Gmusa
Every
assamese people follow this tradition.The grome give a gamusa to her bride to
wear it when he come her home to marry her
But some rules are change in the present time gamusa is newly design by the designers.so
present times gamuse having flowers both sides,But in our village it is believe
that the bride should not put the both sides flower desiging gamusa.In the
ancient time gamusa is the speciall cloth of man.But now women also wear
it,dress makes from gamusa,fashoin showes are held using gamusa design clothes.
But the beauty and grogiousness of gamuse we cannot denied.
We love our identity,we love gamusa.
(NB. ..the opinion of different people differ,therefore the
custom is also different from one part of another part,the myth,believes are
not equal therefore I write only those which are done in my village).
